Regulation

We, CoverSupermarket.com 141-145 Central Drive, Blackpool, FY1 5EE an appointed representatives of M&J Yates Ltd who are authorised and regulated by Financial Services Authority (FSA) to sell general insurance products. Their FSA register number is 304571 and you can check this on the FSA’s register by visiting the FSA’s website www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234.

Our Service to You

In arranging insurance for our customers we act as an independent intermediary and act on you behalf when arranging your insurance. Our service includes: advising you on your insurance needs; arranging your insurance cover with insurers to meet your requirements and helping you with any ongoing changes you have to make. We offer a range of general insurance products and have access to a number of insures (arrange insurance through one insurer for each product) with whom we place your insurance. We will give you details of these insurers when we discuss your individual requirements.

Complaints

It is our intention to provide you with a high level of customer service at all times. If there are occasions when we do not meet your expectations, please contact Mr M T Yates either verbally or in writing, who will take details of your concerns. We will acknowledge in writing, advising you of our understanding of your concerns and attempt to address them within five working days. If our investigations take longer, we will provide you with an update and a timescale for our full and final response. If we cannot satisfy your complaint, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. This must be done within 6 months of receiving our full and final response. Whose products do we offer

We offer products from a range of insurers however you will be advised if your product is offered from a limited market or single insurer. A list of insurers is available on Current.Request We will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs. This will include the type of cover you seek together with the costs involved.

Disclosure of Information

It is important that you understand that any information, statements or answers made by you or us, or you insurer, are your responsibility and must be correct. Any failure to disclose facts material to the insurer or any inaccuracies in your answers may invalidate your insurance cover in part or in whole. Facts material to the insurance are matters or information which may influence your insurer as to the acceptability or otherwise of your Proposal or Renewal and must be disclose immediately. You are advised to keep copies of documentation sent to or received from us for your own protection. Please do consult us if you are in doubt on any aspect. The disclosure of information not only applies at commencement and renewal of your policy, but also at anytime during the period of insurance.

What will you have to pay for our services?

We reserve the right to make charges, in addition to any insurance premiums, for the arranging, amending, renewing and cancelling any policy of insurance. Details of charges made will be declared in all correspondence with you.

Awareness of Policy Terms

When a Policy is issued, you are strongly advised to read it carefully, as it is that document, the schedule and any certificate of insurance that is the basis of the insurance contract you have purchased. If you are in doubt over any of the policy terms and conditions, please seek our advice promptly.

Ownership

No Insurer owns any of our share capital.

Charges

We reserve the right to make charges, in addition to any insurance premiums, for the arranging, amending, renewing and cancelling any policy of insurance. Details of charges made will be declared in all correspondence with you.

Clients Money (Statutory Trust)

We will hold client money separate from our own money with an approved bank, segregated in a client bank account designated as subject to a Statutory Trust. We act as Trustees of our clients monies and must meet certain legal and regulatory conditions. We reserve the right to keep any interest earned.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for the first £2,000 and 90% of the remained of the claim without any upper limit. Further information about the compensation scheme is available from the FSCS.

Cancellation Rights

If you are a consumer, you may have the right to cancel a new policy within 14 days of when you purchase your policy or of when you receive your policy document, whichever is later, and a renewed policy within 14 days of renewal date. Provided you have not incurred any claims during that period, the insurers will pay a pro-rata refund of premium, subject to a minimum charge, from which we may at our discretion deduct a cancellation fee and claw back commissions.

If you cancel after 14 days, motor insurers are likely to set short-period cancellations rates for calculating refunds.

After the 14 day cooling off period has expired. breakdown, legal expenses and excess reimbursement premiums are non-refundable. If you’re a commercial customer, any right to cancellation will be detail in your policy.

It is our policy to deal with you the policyholder direct or any spouse or partner who calls us on your behalf, provided they are named on the policy. If you would like someone else to deal with your policy on your behalf on a regular basis please let us know.

Fraud prevention agencies

If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified or suspected, details may be passed to fraud prevention agencies.

Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information.

We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example when:

  • Checking applications for, and managing credit and other facilities and recovering debt;
  • Checking insurance proposals and claims;
  • Checking details of job applicants and employees.

We, and other organisations that may access and use information recorded by fraud prevention agencies, may do so from other countries.
